On April 18, 2019, Khmelnytskyi was awarded by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe with a distinct award of the Plaque of Honour.
Apart from Khmelnytskyi, the Plaque of Honour, which is the second highest distinction after the Europe Prize, was also awarded to six other municipalities in France, Germany, Romania and Turkey.
It should be noted that among Ukrainian cities in 2019 only Lviv was awarded with the Flag of Honour, the third highest distinction, which Khmelnytskyi received in 2017.
