In 2017, Khmelnytskyi celebrated the 586th anniversary of its first written mention in historical documents. On the occasion of the celebration, a former member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Erich Fritz, arrived in Khmelnytskyi to present the city community with the Flag of Honour. This is the third most significant prize of the PACE.
In his speech, Erich Fritz noted that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe highly appreciates Khmelnytskyi's efforts to work towards European integration, economic development, and international cooperation. He expressed support for our city on behalf of the Council of Europe and promised to promote Khmelnytskyi in every possible way.
