Creating an open community together (video)

“Khmelnytskyi Development Agency organised a strategic session “Creating an Open Community Together”. The event brought together representatives of , business, , and local government officials. Its goal was to develop new ideas for the updated Action Plan under the “Open Government Partnership” Initiative.

As a reminder, in 2020 Khmelnytskyi joined the international Open Government Partnership initiative, becoming one of three Ukrainian cities selected from among 110 applicants from around the world.

During the implementation of the first two-year Action Plan (2021-2022), the Khmelnytskyi city territorial community managed to achieve a number of notable results

services of the were digitised, allowing it to process more than 50,000 documents annually;

created a geoportal with 83 open data sets;

conducted a full inventory of green spaces, digitised them and put them on an interactive map;

implemented the Green City long-term environmental programme for 2023-2032;

opened the “Goofy-Centre”, an environmental literacy training space that has already been visited by more than 23,000 people;

created digital education hubs based in city libraries.

The community is currently working on its second Action Plan under the Initiative. The strategic session was an important step in the process of setting new priorities and decisions. In the format of five rounds, the session participants worked on the key question:

‘What specific ideas, solutions or changes should be implemented in our community to make it more open, accountable and responsive to the needs of its residents?’

During the discussions, a number of meaningful and practical proposals were collected, which will form the basis for further work on the Action Plan.
