Khmelnytskyi shared experience and developments in open governance

For two days, Khmelnytskyi hosted an Open Governance Forum within the framework of the “Open Government Partnership” initiative to share experiences and discuss best practices in open governance, organised by the NGO Growth Innovations in cooperation with the “Khmelnytskyi Development Agency”.

This project aims to increase the transparency and accountability of public authorities in Ukraine through the implementation of best practices of open governance, exchange of experience and involvement of civil society in local governance processes.

Deputy Mayor Mykola Vavryshchuk welcomed the participants of the forum and noted the extreme importance of such events.

The Forum was attended by representatives of the Coordination Council for the Implementation of the “Open Government Partnership” Initiative in Ukraine, representatives of local participants of the “Open Government Partnership” Initiative from Kyiv, Zvyagel, Orzhytsia, Vinnytsia and Ternopil, as well as representatives of local communities in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, civil society activists and academics.

The participants shared their own experience and best practices in the field of open governance, as well as had the opportunity to get acquainted with the practical component of the Action Plan for the implementation of the “Open Government Partnership” initiative in Khmelnytskyi, namely: to visit the Office "Smart Environment. Khmelnytskyi‘ Office, see the work of the Waste Management Centre, and, of course, visit the unique waste management training centre ’Guffy-Centre".

Openness and transparency of public authorities are fundamental conditions for strengthening citizens' trust in state institutions and improving public administration. That is why the Khmelnytskyi Urban Territorial Community is actively working in this direction.

The event is organized with the support of the European Union and the International Renaissance Foundation within the framework of the joint initiative "European Renaissance of Ukraine".
